Halo glass

Halo is the outcome of the collaboration between Björksoda and NMASA Design, a glass whose design was conceived to preserve the finesse of Björksoda’s bubbles when it is served and create a visually-appealing experience that intensifies the qualities, nuances and flavours of the naturally fermented birch sap.

Everything started with Björksoda, an exclusive sparkling non-alcoholic beverage made from naturally fermented birch sap, a precious source from the Swedish forest. It stands out for its dry taste, unique character and crispy bubbles resulting from its double fermentation process.

Captivated by this sensational product, NMASA Design fantasised about the idea of designing a glass whose shape would embrace its unique characteristics and enhance the experience of its consumption. To do so, the studio worked for months in close collaboration with skilled artisans in Sweden and the Czech Republic to create an exceptional glass for an exceptional drink. The result is the Halo glass, a delicate piece inspired by centuries of European sparkling beverages, Asian Pottery and Scandinavian design.

Its main feature is the elevated bottom, similar to a bubble, that gives character to the piece and makes the pouring a sophisticated play of lights and shadows. At the same time, it also helps avoid the excess foam that originates when sparkling drinks are poured, keeping the bubbles for a longer time.

About Björksoda:

Ängabackens (’Meadow Rise’s) Birch soda is an exclusive, alcohol-free, effervescent drink made from 100% Birch sap. Birch soda is appreciated for its dryness and luxurious taste. Early in spring, the Silver Birches in Ängabacken are slowly tapped of a portion of their sap. This sap is then naturally fermented twice, initially in bulk tanks and then in bottles. The sap becomes naturally effervescent during the time the bottles are stored in an earth cellar. Birch soda serves as an excellent mealtime drink, as a welcoming bubbly drink, and can furthermore be used when mixing exclusive cocktails. Ämngabackens Björksoda is artisanally produced by Martina Peterson, in Sonarp, Småland.
