Osmos.

Prototype poduced by Sancal

Osmos is a versatile seat that encourages the dialogue between the indoor and outdoor spaces by creating a visual continuity between both realities. It is an easy chair whose shape and characteristics result from experimenting with the non-written rules that classify specific material, forms, and archetypes as "indoor" or "outdoor". The idea was to identify and play with them to create a piece that could challenge users' perceptions.

It features a light structure and playful rain-proof shape perfect for the "al fresco" life. Nevertheless, its dimensions, rounded lines and way of embracing the body are more related to the cosiness and comfort of upholstered indoor seats. These subtle nuances make Osmos a piece that can cross gracefully the in/out divide, blurring the limit.

The Osmos project aims to show the great potential of furniture as a tool to connect indoor and outdoor environments, especially in cities where higher environmental awareness and the past sanitary crisis led to a growing demand for this kind of hybrid experiences.

Using stretched fabric in a different way

We wanted to avoid the plane surfaces of stretched-fabric seats and create something more three-dimensional, similar to the shape of upholstered sofas, to increase comfort without using foam.
